आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

शैलयेषु शिलातलेषु च गिरेः शृङ्गेषु गर्तेषु च
श्रीखण्डेषु विभीतकेषु च तथा पूर्णेषु रिक्तेषु च  |
स्निग्धेन  ध्वनिनाSखिलेSपि  जगतीचक्रे समं वर्षतो
वन्दे वारिद  सार्वभौम  भवतो विश्वोपकारि व्रतम्  ||
                           सुभाषित  रत्नाकर (शार्ङ्गधर )

भावार्थ -     ओ जल वृष्टि करने  वाले बादलो  !  पथरीली भूमि पर,
शिलाओं के नीचे , पर्वतों की चोटियों और उनकी गहरी घाटियों में ,
चन्दन के और बेर के वनों में तथा जल से भरे हुए और रिक्त  स्थानों
में , शान्तिपूर्वक  या गरजते हुए सारी पृथ्वी पर बिना  किसी भेदभाव
के समान रूप से  जल की वृष्टि करते हो |  तुम सर्वत्र व्याप्त रहते हो
और तुमने  समस्त विश्व का उपकार करने का व्रत लिया है  अतः हम
तुम्हारी वन्दाना करते हैं |

(प्रस्तुत सुभाषित एक  अन्योक्ति है और 'मेघान्योक्ति ' शीर्षक से संकलित
है |  लाक्षणिक रूप से इसका तात्पर्य यह है कि महान व्यक्ति भी इस संसार
में बिना किसी भेदभाव के सभी प्राणियों का उपकार करते हैं और इसी लिये
वन्दनीय हैं |)

Shailayeshu  shilaataleshu cha gireh shrungeshu  garteshu cha.
Shrikhandeshu vibheetakeshu cha  tathaa poorneshu rikteshu cha.
Snigdhena dhvaninaakhilepi jagateechakre samamvarshate.
Vande vaarida saarvabhauma bhavato vishvopakaari vrutam.

Shailyeshu = rocky terrains.   Shilaataleshu = below the rocks.
Cha = and.    Shrungeshu = peaks of mountains.       Garteshu =
gorges, caves.    Shreekhandeshu = Sandalwood trees.  Vibheeta-
keshu =trees producing berries.    Tatha = also.          Poorneshu=
well filled things.  Rikteshu = empty things.   Snigdhena= gently.
Dhvaninaakhilepi = dhvaninaa + akhile+ api.   Dhvaninaa = by
making loud sound.  Akhile = entire. .Api = even.  Jagatee chakra =
around the World.    Samam = equally.   Varshate =  rains.    Vande=
salutations to thee.   Vaarida = a cloud.    Saarvabhauma =  known
throughout the World.    Bhavato = your good self.    Vishvopakaari=
for the benefit of the entire World,    Vrutam - chosen, preferred.

i.e.    O rain bearing clouds !   You shower your rain on rocky terrain, on
on the base of big rocks, mountain peaks and their deep gorges, over the
the sandalwood forests as also berry trees,  on places full of  or water and
also without water, either silently or with rumbling sound throughout the
the World without any discrimination. You have chosen to serve the entire
World ,for which we all salute your good self.

(This Subhashita is also an allegory. The idea behind it is that noble and
righteous persons serve the entire humanity without any discrimination.)
