आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita ..

अन्यानि शास्त्राणि विनोदमात्रं  प्राप्तेषु कालेषु न तैश्च किंचित |
चिकित्सितज्योतिष मन्त्रवादाः पदेपदे प्रत्ययमा वहन्ति   ||

भावार्थ -         अन्य शास्त्र  तो केवल मनोविनोद के लिये और विशिष्ट
अवसरों पर थोडे ही  समय के लिये ही प्रयुक्त होते हैं |  परन्तु चिकित्सा
शास्त्र तथा खगोलशास्त्र , ज्योतिष तथा मंत्र-तंत्र की आवश्यकता कदंम
कदम  पर पडती है |

Chikitsita-jyotisha-mantravaadaah padepade pratyayamaa
vahanti.

Anyaani = others.    Shaastraani = disciplines of learning. 
Vinod= entertainment.    Maatram = merely, amounting to. 
Praaptakaala =suitable for a particular occasion.    Na = not. 
Taishcha= taaih  +Cha.    Taih = they.   Cha = and.  Kinchit =
a little bit.   Chikitsita = medical  science   Jyotisha=Astrology
/Astronomy.   Mantravaadah = sacred texts and magical arts. 
Padepade =  at every step.      Praatyayama = fame, need.   
Vahanti = conveys, exhibits.

i.e.    Other disciplines of learning are used only for the purpose
of entertainment on specific occasions and for a short period only.
But the medical science , Astronomy/Astrology , sacred texts and
magical arts are such disciplines that their need is felt at every step.
