आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

यशः सौरभ्यलशुनः शान्तिशैत्यहुताशनः  |
कारुण्यकुसुमाSSकाशः  खलः सज्जनदुःखदः ||
             - सुभाषित रत्नाकर (भामिनिविलासः)

भावार्थ -    दुष्ट और नीच व्यक्तियों  का यश उसी प्रकार नष्ट
हो जाता है जिस प्रकार लहसुन की दुर्गन्ध से सुगन्ध नष्ट हो 
जाती है तथा  उनकी  मानसिक शान्ति भी वैसे ही नष्ट हो जाती है 
जिस प्रकार शीतलता  को अग्नि नष्ट  कर देती है | दुष्ट व्यक्तियों
मे करुणा की भावना का होना वैसा ही  है जैसा शून्याकाश में फूलों
का विकसित होना , अर्थात असंभव है | अपने दुर्व्यवहार के कारण
वे सज्जन व्यक्तियों को बहुत दुःख देते हैं  |

Yashah saurabhy-lashunah shaanti-shaitya-hutaashanah.
Kaarunya-kusumaakaashah khalah sajjanaduhkhadah.

Yashah = fame.    Saurabhya = sweet smell.   Lashunah=
garlic.      Shaanti = peace of mind.    Shaitya = coolness. 
Hutashanah= fire.    Kaarunya = compassion, kindness.
Kusumaakaashah = kusuma + Akaashah.     Kusuma =
flowers.    Aakasahah = sky. (Akaash kusum = flowers
grown in the sky i.e. any thing that is impossible ).
Khalah = wicked person.   Sajjana =  a noble person.
Duhkhadah = causing distress and pain.

i.e.    The fame of wicked persons gets destroyed just like the
foul smell of garlic destroying  a sweet fragrance and their
peace of mind  gets destroyed  like cold being destroyed by
a fire .They are devoid of any compassion just like no flowers
growing in the void of the sky and cause much distress and pain
to noble persons.
