आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

तृष्णां  छिन्धि  भज क्षमां  जहि  मदं  पापे  रतिं  मा कृथाः  |
सत्यम्  ब्रूह्यनुपाहि  साधुपदवीं  सेवस्व  विद्वज्जनान्     |
मान्यान्मानय विद्विषोSप्यनुनय  ह्याछादय स्वान्गुणा-
न्कीर्तिं  पालय  दुःखिते  कुरु  दयामेतत्सतां  लक्षणम्         ||

भावार्थ -     लोभी न होना,  क्षमावान् , अहंकारी और मद्यप (शराबी) न होना .
 पापकर्मों में कभी भी  लिप्त न रहना , सदा सच  बोलना , साधु संतों के द्वारा
प्रदर्शित सन्मार्ग  का ही अनुसरण करना , विद्वान व्यक्तियों की  सेवा में मन
लगाना, सम्मानित व्यक्तियों का उचित सम्मान करना, अपने से द्वेष करने
वाले व्यक्तियों से भी समझौता करने की भावना, अपने गुणों और प्रसिद्धि को
छुपाये रखने की प्रवृत्ति.  दुःखी व्यक्तियों पर दया कर उनकी सहायता करना ,
ये  सभी शुभ लक्षण महान् और सज्जन व्यक्तियों में पाये जाते हैं |

Trushnaam chindhi bhaja kshamaam jahi  madam paape ratim maa kruthaah.
Satyam broohyanupaahi  saadhu-padaveem sevasva vidvajjanaan,
Maanyaanmaanaya vidvishopyanunaya hyaacchadaya svaangunaa-
nkeertim paalaya duhkhite kuru dayaametatsataam lakshanam.

Trushnaam =  greed.    Chindhi = destroy.   Bhaja = rever.   Kshamaa =
forgiveness.    Jahi = hit, strike at.   Madam = pride, passion,intoxication.
Paape = sins.   Ratim = love, pleasure.    maa = not.   Kuru = do.    Satyam =
the truth.    Broohyanupaahi = broohi +anupaaahi.    Broohi = say, tell.
Anupaahi = uninterrupted.   Saadhu =  noble persons.  Padaveem= road,path.
Sevasva =do service.     Vidvajjanaah = learned persons.     Maanyaan =
honouraable persons.   Manaya = honour them .  Vidvisho+ api + anunaya.
Visdvisho =hatred.   Api = even.   Anunayah = appeasing, conciliation.
Hi +aachaadaya.   Hi = surely.   Aachaadaya = hiding, covering.   Svaan-
gunaan = one's own virtues.  keertim=  fame.   Paalaya =looking after.
Duhkhite = grieved persons.   Kuru = do.   Dayaam = mercy, pity.  Etat =
these.   Sataam = virtuous persons.   Lakshanam = symptoms, indications.+

i.e.   Not greedy at all ,  forgiving in nature, without pride, passion and not
addicted to intoxication, never indulging in sinful deeds,  always truthful,
follower of  the righteous path shown by our sages , always remaining in the
company and service of learned persons ,.giving due respect to honourable
persons, always ready for conciliation with the opponents,  hiding his own
fame and virtues, being kind towards grieving persons and helping them ,
all these virtues are symptomatic of noble and virtuous persons.
