आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

याचना  हि  पुरुषस्य  महत्त्वं  नाशयत्यखिलमेव  तथा  हि |
सद्य   एव  भगवानपि विष्णुर्वामनो  भवति  याचितुमिच्छन्  ||
                                              - सुभाषित रत्नाकर (कल्पतरु )

भावार्थ -   किसी भी व्यक्ति का संपूर्ण महत्त्व और आत्मसम्मान
 उसके द्वारा किसी प्रकार की याचना करने  पर निश्चय ही तुरन्त
नष्ट हो जाता है |  देखो न  !  भगवान विष्णु भी जब याचना करने के
लिये महाराजा बलि   के पास गये तो वे तुरन्त एक  बौने व्यक्ति हो
गये थे |

Yaachanaa hi purushasya mahattvam naashayatyakhilameva
tathaa hi.aachanaa kara
Sadya eva bhagavaanapi Vishnurvaamano bhavati Yaachitu-
micchan.

Yaachanaa = begging.   Hi = surely.    Purushasya = a person's .
Mahattvam = importance.    Naashayati + akhilam + eva.
Naashayati = destroys.    Akhillam =entirely.   Eva = really.
Tathaa = so.   sadya = instantly.   Bhagwaan+ api.   Bhagvaan=
God.     Api = even.     Vishnuh + vaamano.   Vishnuh = the God
Vishnu.   Vaamano = a dwarf.    Bhavati =becomes.   Yaachitum=
begging.   Icchati = desires to.

i.e.     No sooner a person begs some thing from another person, his
importance and self-respect is lost entirely  and instantly.   Just see,
even the God Vishnu became a dwarf when he went  to the King Bali
for thee purpose of begging..
