आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita .

आयुः कर्म  च  वित्तं  च  विद्या  निधनमेव  च  |
पञ्चैतानि  हि  सृज्यन्ते  गर्भस्थस्यैव  देहिनः   ||
                                        - चाणक्य नीति (४/१ )

भावार्थ -   समस्त देहधारी प्राणियों की आयु, उनके द्वारा
किये जाने वाले कर्म (कार्य ), धन , विद्या तथा मृत्यु  का
समय उनकी  गर्भावस्था में  ही पूर्वनिर्धारित हो जाता है |

(उपर्युक्त सुभाषित में सनातन धर्म की इस मान्यता को ही
व्यक्त किया गया है कि  प्राणी अपने  कर्मानुसार विभिन्न
योनियों में जन्म लेता है और तदनुसार उसके भाग्य का
निर्धारण उसकी गर्भावस्था में ही हो जाता है |  तुलसीदास
जे ने भी कहा है कि - 'हानि लाभ जीवन मरण यश अपयश
विधि हाथ ' |)

Aayuh karma  cha  vittam cha vidyaa nidhanameva cha.
panchaitaani hi srujyante garbhasthasyaiva  dehinah.

Ayuh = duration of life.   Karma = activity.    Cha = and.
Vittam = wealth.   Vidyaa =knowledge.   Nidhanm =death.
Eva = thus, really.   Panch+ etaani.    Panch = five.
Etani = these.  Hi = surely.    Srujyante = are bestowed.
Garbhasthah =tasya+eva.    Garbhasthah = when situated
in the womb.   Tasya = his.    Dehinah = a living being.

i.e.     Duration of life,  creative activity, financial status,
knowledge (intelligence), and time of death, all these five
attributes of the life of a living being are bestowed on him
while it grows in the womb.

(The concept of a living being taking birth in different species
according to its 'Karmas" has been explained in the above
Subhashita in a nut-shell. )
