जलबिन्दुनिपातेन क्रमशः पूर्यते घटः |
स हेतुः सर्वविद्यानां धर्मस्य च धनस्य च ||
- चाणक्य नीति (१२/२२)
भावार्थ - जिस प्रकार जल की बूंदें टपक टपक कर क्रमशः
(धीरे धीरे ) एक घडे को भर देती हैं, उसी प्रकार सभी विद्यायें .
धार्मिकता तथा धन संपत्ति भी क्रमशः अर्जित की जाती हैं |
Jalabindunipaatena kramashah pooryate ghatah.
Sa hetuh sarvavidyaanaam dharm asya cha dhanasya cha.
Jalabindu = drops of water. Nipaatena = by falling of.
Kramashah = gradually. Pooryate = gets filled. Ghatah =
an earthen pitcher for storing water. Sa = it., that.
Hetu = cause, manner. Sarva = all . Vidyaanaam =various
disciplines of learning. Dharmasya = Religious austerity.
Dhanasya = of the wealth.
i.e. Just as small drops of water falling inside an earthen
pitcher gradually fill it up to the brim, in the same manner
various disciplines of learning, Religious austerity and wealth
are also acquired gradually.
