Dharmaakhyaane shmashaane cha roginaam yaa matirbhavet.
Sa sarvadaiva tishthccetko na muchayate bandhanaat.
Dharmaakhyaane = religious discourses. Shmashaane= a place
where dead bodies are burnt, a crematorium. cha = amd.
Roginaam = sick persons. Yaa = that. Matih+ bhavet.
Matih = state of mind. Bhavet = happens. Saa = that.
Sarvadaiva = sarvadaa +eva. Sarvadaa = always. Eva = also
Tishthet +chet + ko. Tishthet= if remains. Chet = if. Ko = who.
Na = not. Muchyet = become free. Bandhanaat = from the
bondage of birth and death.
i.e. If the state of mind of people while listening to a religious
discourse, attending a funeral ceremony in a crematorium, and
while suffering from a serious life threatening disease, always remains
intact, can there be any person who will not be free from the bondage
of birth and death ?
(In the three situations mentioned in this subhashita people become
averse to worldly objects and desires, but it is momentary. This fact
has been stated here sarcastically that had this feeling been permanent
people would have been free from the bondage of birth and death.)
