दाने तपसि शौर्ये वा विज्ञाने विनये नये |
विस्मयो न कर्तव्यो बहुरत्ना वसुन्धरा ||

भावार्थ - दान देने में अग्रणी , तपस्वी, शूरवीर, वैज्ञानिक ,
विनम्र स्वभाव वाले तथा अपने सिद्धान्तों पर सदैव दृढ रहने
वाले किसी महान व्यक्ति को देख कर आश्चर्य नहीं करना
चाहिये ,क्यों कि इस पृथ्वी को सुशोभित करने वाले ऐसे एक
से बढ कर और भी महान व्यक्ति हैं |
(इस सुभाषित का अन्तिम पद - 'बहुरत्ना वसुन्धरा ' बहुत ही
प्रसिद्ध है | )
Daane tapasi shaurye vaa vigyaane vinaye naye .
Vismayo na kartavyo bahu-ratna vsundharaa.
Daane = giving away wealth as charity. Tapasi =
ascetic, penance. Shaurya =valour, bravery. Vaa=
and. Vigyaana = knowledge, science, discovery.
Vinaye = humility, education. Naye = principle.
Vismayo = amazement, wonder. Na = not.
Kartavyo= to be done. Bahu = plentiful, a lot.
Ratnaa= precious things. Vasundharaa = the Earth.
i.e. We should not be amazed at all by seeing a very
charitable, ascetic, brave and humble person with scientific
temperament and firm on his principles, because more such
persons are found in plentiful on this Earth.
