आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

अग्निरापः  स्त्रियो  मूर्खाः  सर्पा राजकुलानि  च    |
नित्यं  यत्नेन  सेव्यानि  सद्यः  प्राणहराणि  षट्  ||
                                      - चाणक्य नीति (१४/१

भावार्थ -    अग्नि (आग) , जल, स्त्रियां , मूर्ख व्यक्ति, सर्प
तथा  राज परिवारों  की सेवा  या इन  से  संपर्क सदैव विशेष
सावधानी पूर्वक करना चाहिये , क्यों  कि ये छहों तुरन्त प्राण
हरण करने में सक्षम होते हैं |

(वर्तमान संदर्भ में इस सुभाषित में स्त्रियों को इस सूची में
सम्मिलित करना तत्कालीन पुरुष सत्तात्मक समाज की
मानसिकता का ही द्योतक  है जिस का प्रभाव अभी भी कई
समाजों में विद्यमान है | )

Agniraapah  striyo  moorkhaah  sarpo  raajakulaani  Cha.
Nityam  yatnena  sevyaani  sadyah  praanaharaani shat.

Agni+ aapah.    Agni = fire.    Aapah = water.    Striyo=
women.   Moorkhaah = foolish persons.   Sarpo = snakes.
Raajakulaani = royal families.    Cha = and.      Nityam =
always.    Yatnena =with special care.   Sevyaani =  to be
taken care of.       Sadyah = instantly.      Praanaharaani = 
capable of taking away or threatening life.     Shat= six.

i.e.    One should handle or deal with fire, water, women,
foolish persons, snakes and Royal families with special
care, because all these six are capable of instantly taking
away or threatening life.

(In the present context inclusion of women in this list is
symbolic of  male dominated society in the past, which is
still in existence in many communities.)
