Today's Subhashita.

Ekaakshara-pradaataaram  yo gurum  naabhivandate.
Shvaana-yoni-shatam  gatvaa  chaandaaleshvabhijaayate.

again and again.

i.e.     A person who does not show due reverence to his
Guru who has initiated him in the sacred  'Om' (ॐ) Mantra
(or taught him even a single word) takes birth as a dog one
hundred times and ultimately is born as a 'Chaandala' .

(In the Sanatan Dharma the highest position is given to a
'Guru' (a teacher) in the society, which, can be judged by
this Subhashita.)

Karmaagata  phalam  pumsaam  buddhih  karmaanusaarinee.

Today's Subhashita.

Yathaa  dhenu  sahasreshu  vatso  gacchati  maataram.
Tathaa yaccha  krutam  karmam  kartaaramanugacchati.

Kartaram=  doer.     Anugacchati = accompany, follows.

i.e.       For instance in a herd of thousands of cows their
calves recognise their respective mothers and then follow
them, in the same manner the deeds done by a person also
follow him thereby implying that ultimately he has to face
the consequences of good or bad deeds done by him.

Today's Subhashita.

Anavasthita  kaaryasya   na  jane  na vane  sukham.
Jano dahati  smsargaadvanam  sangavivarjanaat.

contact .     vivarjanaat= by avoiding.

i.e.   Any unstable business, whether done publicly or
privately (in a forest) does not result in happiness. When
done publicly it results in failure due to the intervention
by the public, and when done privately it also results in
failure for want of the association of the public , thereby
causing grief.

Today's Subhashita.

Khanitvaa hi  khanitrena  bhootale  vaari  vindati.
Tathaa gurugataam  vidyaa  shushrooshuradhigacchati.

Khanitvaa = by digging.    Hi = surely.    Khanitrena=

(teacher) . Vidya = knowledge   Shushrooshuradhigacchati
= shushrooshu+ adhigacchati.  Shushrooshu=  eagerness to
obey, serving.   Adhigacchati =  learns.

i.e.    Just as by digging  the surface of earth with the help
of  a spade and pick axe  we are able to find underground
water  (process of digging a well) , in the same manner the
Knowledge a Teacher possesses, can be learnt by a student
by diligently serving and obeying his Teacher.

(In this Subhashita acquiring knowledge from a Guru has
been compared to digging a well to fetch the underground
water., which , besides use of various implements requires
much patience and commitment .)

Santoshastrishu  kartavyah  sva-daare  bhojane  dhane.
Trishu chaiva na kartavyodhyayane  japa-daanayoh.

Santoshah+ trishu.   Santoshah = contentedness  with.

prayer.     Daanayoh  = giving donations.

i.e.   It is the duty of a person that he should be contented in
respect of three aspects of his life, namely his wife,  the
food he gets, and the wealth in his possession.  On the other
hand he should  never  be contented in respect  of  acquiring
knowledge,  doing 'Japa'  (muttering prayers) and  giving
donations to the needy and poor people.

Today's Subhashita .

Dharmaartha-kaama-mokshaanaam  yasyaikopi na vidyate.

i.e.    If  a person does not possess even a single desire among
the Religious austerity,  acquisition of  wealth,  erotic love and
achieving emancipation (release from the cycle of re-birth) .
then his being born in this World is useless like the outgrowth
on the neck of goats resembling nipples.
