Today's Subhashita.

Neta  yasya Vruhaspatih praharanam vajram suraah sainikaah.
Svargo durgamanugrahh kila harerairaavato chaaranaah.

Sharanam = protection, asylum.    Dhik = fie.   Vruthaa =  futile,
in vain.    Paurusham = valour, strength.

i.e.      His mentor is the sage Vruhaspati ,  'Vajra' is  his most powerful
weapon,  various gods are his soldiers, 'Svarga' his kingdom is safe and
secure like a fort, the elephant  'Airaavat' is his mount, and the Supreme
God 'Hari'  is supposedly his protector.  All these powers possessed by
Indra , the ruler of Heaven are of no use while fighting with Demons and
he  is totally at the mercy of his destiny. Then fie on such power and pelf.

(The idea behind this Subhashita is that however powerful a person may
be, he is helpless before his destiny.

i.e.     The stem and branches of a tree on being chopped off, its
remnants  sprout and the tree grows again .  Likewise, the Moon
during its waning period gets reduces in size and during its waxing
period again  grows in size and acquires its original shape.  Being
well aware of the fact that in this World periods of decay and growth
(as also miseries and happiness ) follow each other, noble ascetic
persons do not grieve even while facing hardships.

may get a simple  vegetarian meal or an exotic dish of cooked rice, or
he may be wearing tattered clothes or beautiful clothes, a  wise and
intelligent person seeking employment or starting a business, does not
care for such situations of sorrow and happiness

(Only those persons are successful in their endeavours, who treat the
situations of both sorrow and happiness equally and are not deterred
by difficulties.This is the idea behind the above Subhashita.)

Ratnaairmahaabdhe tutushurnadevaah na bhejire bheemavishena

Dheeraah = brave and strong minded persons.

i.e.    During the course of churning of the Ocean by the Gods, they
were not satisfied after getting many jewels, nor they were deterred
and afraid when the awesome poison 'Kaakkoot'  came out of the
depth of the Ocean and they did not stop their endeavour, until they
got 'Amruta' the divine nectar.

          It is true that brave and strong minded persons never forget
their objective  and the goal.

Mythology has been used as a simile.  If full details are required by

virtues in other people like a very large like a mountain ?

(The answer is that there very few such devoted and noble  persons.)

Preenaati yass ucharitaih  Pitaram sa putro.

i.e.    A person  who is of good character and conduct , keeps
his father happy and well satisfied is an ideal son.  Likewise,
a woman who always thinks about the welfare of her husband,
is an ideal wife,and a person who is helpful and reliable, both
at the time of misery and happiness, is a real friend. Only those
persons who have earned 'Punya' are eligible to enjoy the benefit
of the three types of  persons mentioned above.

( According to Sanatana Dharma, if a person leads a virtuous life
he earns certain plus points termed as "Punya' which help him to
lead a happy life in his next birth or even in his present lifetime.
On the contrary if he leads a  sinful lifestyle , he earns negative
points called 'Paap (sins).  The above Subhashita deals with this
aspect of the Religion.)

same advice they conveniently forget it.

Today;s Subhashita.

Kaashtaadyathaagnirutpannah svaashryam dahati kshanaat,
Kridhagnirdehajastadvat-tameva  dahati dhruvam.

Kaashtaadyathaagnirutpannah = kaashtaat + yatha+ agnih+

alluded to a fire,   Dehajah = body born. . Tadvat = in the same
manner    Tameva = to them    Dhruvam = certainly.

i.e.      If two pieces of wood are rubbed vigorously for some time,
fire is produced instantly by doing so,and the fire engulfs the wood
and burns it immediately.  Likewise. if  the body-born living beings
(among whom human beings are most prominent) enter into a bitter
argument, soon the signs of anger develop between them just like a
fire and certainly harms them.

{In this Subhashita anger has been compared to a fire.  Even very
calm and quiet persons develop the signs of anger if they are treated
very badly. The Hindi poet Tulasi Das has said that a fire can be
produced even from sandalwood (epitome of coolness) if rubbed
(ill treated) continuously. }

Agyah sukham-aaraadhyah  sukhataramaaraadhyate vishesheshagyah.

Brahmaa + api.   Brahmaa = the God Brahmaa.  Api = even, Tam = that.
Naram = person.   Na = not.   Ranjayati = gratify.

i.e.      An ignorant person on achieving  a little happiness craves for many
more types of comforts and happiness.  But even the Creator Brahma himself
can not gratify such a silly person having very little knowledge ,

(The idea behind this subhashita is that it is easier to convince a knowledgeable
person but it is very difficult to convince a silly and dull headed person.)

very low or bad.   Madhyamottamagunaah =madhyam + uttam +
gunaah   Madhyam = middle.   Uttama= excellent.   Gunaah =
virtues.   Sansargato = co-existing with.  Dehinaam = persons.

i.e.     When a drop of water falls over heated iron one does not
hear about it again ( it evaporates immediately), but when it falls
over the leaf of a lotus plant , it takes a round shape and shines
like a pearl . And if the drop of water falls in the middle of the sea
inside an oyster shell, it ultimately turns into a beautiful pearl.
In the same manner if a person keeps the company of mean and
bad people he too becomes bad and if he keeps the company of
noble and virtuous persons he too becomes virtuous.

the welfare of others.   Svaarthaaya = one's own interest or object.
Nighnanti = kill, destroy.  Ye = those.    Nirarthakam = nonsensically.
Jaaneemahe = I do not know.

i.e.    Those are the noble and righteous persons, who, for the sake of
helping others do not bother about their self-interest. They are ordinary
people like us but always remain engaged in helping others, at times
even against their own interests. On the other hand there are persons
having demonic temperament who do not hesitate to harm and destroy
the interests of other people with a view to furthering their own interests.
I am at a loss to understand as to why these persons do so without any
valid reason.

Today's Subhashita.

Paapaannivaarayati  yojayate hitaaya.
Guhyam nigoohati gunaan prakateekaroti.
Aapadgatam cha na jahaati dadaati kaale.
Sanmitra-lakshanamidam pravadanti santaah.

Paapaan = sinful actions.    Nivaarayati = prevents, hinders.

Sanmitra = a true friend.    Lakshanam = symptoms.  Idam=
these.  Pravadanti =pronounce,say.  Santaah=noble persons.

i.e.  Wise and noble persons have pronounced that the symptoms
of a true friend are that he  prevents us from committing sinful
deeds and urges us to do things that are advantageous to  us,
keeps our  secrets and  brings out  our virtues and qualities, does
not desert us when we face misfortune, and helps us whenever
we are in need of any help.

Today's Subhashita.

Bhavanti namraa-staravah phalodgamaih
Navaambubir-bhoomi-vilambino ghanaah.
Anuddhataa satpurushaah  samruddhibhih
svabhaava evaish paropakaarinaam.

Bhavanti = become.  Namraah = bow down, bent.
Taravah = trees.  Phalodgamah = at the time of
growth of fruits.   Navaambubhih = fresh water.
Bhoomi = earth.   Vilambino = hanging down .
Ghanaah = clouds.  Anuddhataa = humble, polite.

Samruddhibhaih = even during great prosperity.
Svabhaava = temperament, nature.   Evaish =
eva+ esha.         Eva = really.             Esha = this.
Paropakaarinaam = charitable and merciful persons.

i .e.   Fruit  bearing trees when laden with fruits bow
down due to the weight of the fruits, and the rain bearing
clouds laden with fresh water hover in the sky nearer the
earth to pour life sustaining rain to the earth.  In the same
manner  noble and righteous persons also remain humble
and charitable even on becoming very prosperous, because
it is part of their nature to help the needy person

(The noble and charitable persons have been compared with
fruit bearing trees and the rain bearing clouds to emphasize
that even on becoming very rich they remain humble  and
charitable.)

Today's Subhashita,

Bhogaa na bhuktaa vayameva bhuktaa-
stapo na taptam vayameva  taptaah.
Kaalo na yaato vayameva yaataa-
strushnaa na jeernaa vayameva jeernaah.

Bhogaa = worldly pleasures.   Na = not   Bhuktaa =
enjoyed, devoured.      Vayameva = vayam + eva.
Vayam= we .  Eva=only.  Bhuktaastapo=bhuktaah+
tapo.  Bhuktaah =happened  Tapo=religious austerity.
Na=not.  Taptam = practised.     Taptah = inflamed,
scorched.   Kaalo = the time.  Yaato =gone.   Yaataah
= gone, died.   Trushnaa = greed.  Jeernaa = reduced
intensity,  senility, growing old

i.e.    While being engaged in worldly pleasures we
think that we are happy, but in fact we ourselves are
being devoured. We do not practise religious austerity
and as a result thereof  are being scorched by the fire
of miseries.   We think that time is passing (which is
eternal) whereas we ourselves are going (approaching
death).  There is no reduction in the level of our greed,
but we ourselves are being reduced to senility.

(In this Subhashita the words 'bhuktaah' , 'taptaah' and
'jeernaah' have been used very cleverly as they have more
than one meaning. The pun used can not be retained in
the English translation of the verse.)

Today' s Subhashita.

Mrutam shareeramutsrujya kaashta-loshta-samam kshitau.
Vimukhaa baandhava  yaanti dharmastamanugacchati.

Mrutam = dead.   Shareeramutsrujya = shareeram +utsrujya.
Shareeram = body.    Utsrujya = having  disposed.   Kaashta=
wood.    Losht = lump of earth.    Samam = like a.    Kshitau =
on the ground.    Vimukhaa =  turn away from.   Baandhavaa =
family members.   Yaanti =become.  Dharmastamanugacchati=
Dharmah+ tu + anugacchati.    Dharmah = religious austerity.
to + only, but.   Anugacchati =  accompanies .

i.e.       After the death of a person, his  family members dispose
his dead body like a heap of wood and a lump of earth, and after
turning away from him  continue with their activities.    Only his
the fame and 'punya' earned by him by observing religious austerity
practiced by him during his lifetime accompanies him.

(In 'Sanatan Dharma' ,the Hindu Religion, there is the concept that
if a person observes religious austerity he earns certain plus points
called 'punya' , which make him famous help him to earn a place in
Heaven . This concept has been mentioned in the above Subhashita.)

Today's Subhashita.

Adharmenaidhate  taavattato  bhadraani pashyati.
Tatah sapatnaanjayati samoolastu vinashyati.

Adharmenaidhate = adharmena + edhate.   Adharmena=
due to immoral conduct.   Edhate = prosper, go strong.
Taavatto = taavat+ tato.    Taavat = meanwhile.   Tato =
then.   Bhadraani = prosperity    Pashyati = experiences.
Tatah = then.  Sapatnaanjayati  = Sa+patnaan + jayati.
Sapatnaam = enemies.   Jayati =conquers.   Samoolastu=
samoolah +tu.      Samoolah = entirely.        Vinashyati =
get destroyed completely , annihilated.

i.e.          Sometimes persons engaged in sinful deeds also
become prosperous and happy for a short period, and are
also able to conquer their enemies.  But ultimately  such
persons are annihilated.

(The history of mankind is full of examples  to prove  the
truth mentioned in the above Subhashita, Col.Gaddafi the
ruler of Libya, and Saddam Hussain of Iraq being the glaring
examples thereof. )

Today's Subhashita.

Yadi naatmani putreshu na chetputreshu naptrushu.
Na tveva tu krutodharmah karturbhavati nishphalah.

Yadi = if.    Naatmani = na + aatmani.   Na = not.    Atmani= self.
Putreshu = sons.     Chetputreshu =  chet + putreshu.     Chet= if.
Naptrushu=grandsons.  Tveva =tu+ eva.    Tu =but.   Eva=really.
Krutodharmah =  kruto + adharmah.    Kruto = having done.
Adharmah = unrighteousness.    Karturbhavati = kartuh + bhavati.
Kartuh = to do.     Bhavati = becomes.    Nishphalah = useless.

i.e.     If the person who has indulged in sinful deeds does not  face
the consequences thereof,  his son or  even his grandson will have
to suffer, because the penalty for the sinful deeds has to be borne
by someone in the  family dynasty.

(It is a common phenomenon that although the descendants of a
cruel and sinful person may lead a virtuous life, they still have to
face  hardships in their life. The above Subhashita explains as to
who they are doomed to bear the consequences of the wrong doings
of their ancestors.)

Today's Subhashita.

Naadharmashcharito loke sadyah phalati gauriva.
Shanairaavartamaanastu karturmoolaani kruntati.

Naadharmashcharito = na +adharmah + charito.
Na = not.   Adharmah =unrighteousness.  Charito=
practised, done.    Loke =  in this world.   Sadyah=
instantly.    Phalati = results, bear fruits.   Gauriva =
like seeds  sown in a farm.   Shanairaavartmaanastu =
shanaih + aavartamaanah + tu.    Shanaih = slowly.
Avarthaama = advancing, proceeding.   Tu = but, and.
Karturmoolaani = kartuh+ moolaani.   Kartuh =doing.
Moolaani = roots.    Kruntati = destroyed.

i.e.   A person who indulges in sinful deeds in this world,
has to face the consequences thereof  not immediately but
later on , just like the seeds sown on a farm which take
time to grow and for the ripening of the crop. Ultimately
the person doing the sinful deeds gets annihilated .

(The veracity  of the above statement can be verified by the
events in the past as also during the present time from the
happenings all around the World, )
.

Today's Subhashita.

Na seedannapi dharmena manodharmena nishayet.
Adhaarmikaanaam paapaanaamaashu pashyanviparyayam.

Na = not.       Seedannapi = seedat + api.      Seedat = despair
Api = even.    Dharmena = by the Religion.   Manodharmena=
Mano + adharmena.    Mano = mind.    Adharmena = by being
immoral, sinful.  Niveshayet = engage into.  Adharmikaanaam=
unrighteous and wicked persons.  Paapaanaamaashu = Paapanaam
+ aashu.   Paapaanaam = various sinful deeds.  Aashu = quick.
Pashyanviparyayam = pashyat+viparyayam.   Pashyat = on seeing.
Viparyayam = contrary to (antonym - word of opposite meaning)

i.e.     People should not despair on seeing immoral and wicked
persons enjoying a lavish lifestyle and must adhere to their
religious lifestyle in spite of facing hardships., because sooner or
later those immoral and wicked persons will have to face the
consequences of their sinful deeds.

(In our day to day life we see that mean and wicked persons initially
enjoy a pleasurable lifestyle, which causes despair among  noble and
religious persons. This Subhashita exhorts them to adhere to their own
religious life style in spite of facing hardships, because ultimately the
irreligious and wicked persons have to face the consequences of their
misdeeds.)

Today's Subhashita.

Devataatithi-ahpitrunaamaatmanashcha yah .
Na nirvapati panchaanaa-mucchvasanna  sa jeeviti.

Devataatithibhrutyaanaam =   Devataa +  atithi +
bhrutyaanaam .  Devataa = God.    Atithi = a guest.
Bhrutyaanaam =servants.  Pitrunaanmaatmanashcha=
pitrunaam +aatmanah + cha.    Pitrunaam =parents.
Atmanah = self.   Cha = and.   Na = not.   Nirvapati=
protects, performs.  Panchaanaamucchvasanna =
panchaanaam + ucchvasan + na .   Panchanaam = these
five.     Ucchavasan  = breathing.   Na = not,   Sa = he.
Jeevati =  remain alive.

i.e.   A person who is incapable of  serving the Gods, guests,
servants and dependents, his parents,and is also unable to
protect himself, is like a dead person, although he may be
breathing, thereby implying that he may better be dead than
living in this manner.

Sunday 10 September 2017

Today's Subhashita.

Yathaa  khanankhatrena naro vaaryadhigacchati.
Taathaa gurugataam vidyaam  shushrooshuradhigacchati.

Yathaa = for instance.  Khanana = digging.   Khanitrena=
by a spade.      Naro = people.    Vaaryaadhigacchati  =
Vaari + adhigacchati.     Vaari = waater.    Adhigacchati=
accomplishes,  learns.    Tathaa =  in the same manner.
Gurugataam =  by serving a Guru (teacher)   Vidyaam =
Knowledge.   Shushrooshuradhigacchati = shushrooshuh+
adhigacchati.     Shushrooshu =  at the service of.

i.e.     Just as an industrious person by digging the surface
of land with a spade ultimately reaches the depth where
sub-soil water is available , in the same manner if a person
serves with dedication and commitment a  'Guru' (learned
person), he too ultimately succeeds in winning  his confidence
and is able to acquire knowledge from him.

( In  olden times knowledge could be acquired by serving a
'Guru'   as a member of his  household called 'Gurukula' and
winning his confidence by serving him with dedication.  In
this Subhashita acquiring knowledge has been compared to
digging a well, which too is an arduous task full of uncertainty.
This system is still prevalent  in the field of music and some
fine arts.)

Maatraa svasraa  duhitraa vaa na viviktaasano bhavet
Balavaanindriyagraamo vidvaamsamapi karshati.

Maatraa = mother.   Svasraa = sister.     Duhitraa == .
daughter.   Vaa = or.    Na = not.   Viviktaasana = having

Indriya = sensory organs.     Graamo = multitude of.
Vidvaamsamapi = vidvaamsam + api.   vidvaamsam =
a wise and learned person     Api = even.     Karshati =
overpowered.

i.e.        One should never sit in a secluded place or share
a seat even with  his  mother, sister and daughter, because
the sensory organs are very powerful and are  able to very
easily overpower  even the  mind of wise and learned
persons.

Naarumtudah  syaadaartopi  na  paradrohakarmabhih.
Yayaasyodvijate  vaachaa  naalokyaam taamudeerayet.

perhaps.    Arto = distresssed.    Api = even.   Paradroha=

words.     Naalokyam = na + alokyaam.       Alokyaam =
unusually.    Taamudeerayet =taam +udeerayet.     Taan =
them.     Udeerayet = upset the mind.

i.e.     It is the duty of  every person not to torment and cause
harm to  others without any valid reason, even if he may have
to face some distress in doing so.  He should also not upset
their mind by  unnecessarily speaking harshly with them.

Na haayanairna palitairn vittena na bandhubhih.
Rishiyashchakire dharmam yonoochaanah sa no mahaan,

Na = not.   Haayanairna = haayanaih + na.    Haayanaih =
years (reference to old age )   Palitairna= palitaih + na.
Palitaih = grey hairs.    Vittena = wealth.   Bandhubhih =
relatives.      Rishayaschaakrire =   rishayah + chakrire.

anoochaanah.   Yo = who     Anoochaanah =  a person
well versed in Vedas and scriptures.    Sa = he,  Mahaan=
great, most respected.

i.e.     A person does not become  great and respectable simply
being aged , having grey hairs,  very rich and having many
friends and relatives.   Old sages have proclaimed that  only a
person well versed in  Vedas and scriptures can be termed as a
great and most respectable person.

Today's Subhashita.

Na jaatu  kaamah  kaamaanaamupabhogena  shaamyati.
Havisha Krushnavartmeveva bhooya evaabhivardhate.

Na = not.    Jaatu = at all, perhaps.    Kaamah = erotic love.
Kaamaanaanaamupabhogena = kaamannam +upabhogena.
Kaamaanaam =     Upabhogena =  enjoyment,
consumption.   Shaamyate = cool down.  Havisha =oblation.
krushnavartmna= fire.  Bhooya =becomes. Evaabhivardhate=
Eva +abhivardhate.   Eva = really.   Abhivardhate = flares up.

i.e.       Sexual desire  never  cools down by indulging in sexual
activities and on the contrary flares up by doing so , just like an
oblational fire flaring up by the offering of butter and other herbs.

Arakshitaa  Gruhe Ruddhaah purushairaaptakaaribhih.
Aatmaanamaatmanaa  yaastu raksheyustaah surakshitaah.

Arakshitaa = unprotected. not guarded.    Gruhe = household
Ruddhaah = confined, blockaded.  Purushairaaptakaaribhih =
prushaih + aaptakaaribhih.    Purushaih = men.  Aptkaribhih=
dependable, trusted.   Atmaanamaatmanaa =aatmanam+
Aatmanaa.    Atmaanam =  by self,     Atmanaa = by  ourself.
Yaastu =  he/she who     Raksheyustaah = Raksheyuh + taah.
Raksheyuh = should protect.   Taah = they.   Surakshitaah=
Safe, well protected.

i.e.    Even powerful men can not guard and protect  their women
by confining them in their homes. Only that woman can protect
herself, who, considering her moral responsibility takes necessary
steps to protect herself.

(Although 'Manusmriti'  prescribes that women should remain under
the protection  of men throughout their lifespan, this shloka exhorts
them to take initiative to protect themselves and not rely only on men.)

Dhritih kshamaa damosteyam shauchmindriyanigrahah.
Dheervidyaa satyamakrodho  dashakam dharmalakshamanam.

Dhrirtih = self.-control, courage.        Kshamaa = forgiveness .
Damosteyam  = damo + asteyam . e     Damo =self-restraint.
Asteyam = not stealing any thing.    Shaucha = cleanliness.
Indriyanigraha = chastity, restraint over the organs of sense.,
subduing the passion.  Dheervidyaa = dheeh +vidyaa.  Dheeh =
intelligence.  Vidyaa=knowledge.    Satyamakrodho = Satyam +
akrodho.    Satyam = Truthfulness.   Akrodho = free from anger.
Dashakam = ten.  Dharma  = Religion.    Lakshanam = definition,
symptoms.

i.e.    Courage, forgiveness,  self-restraint, not stealing anything,
observing cleanliness, restraint over the organs of sense , intelligence,
knowledge, freedom from anger,  these are the ten main attributes
of Religion,

(Through this Subhashita the ten main attributes of Religion have
been defined. Only a person who possesses and observes them can
can be  truly termed as a religious person.)

Today's Subhashita .

Bhadram bhadramiti brooyaadbhadramityeva  vaa vadet.
Shushkavairam vivaadam cha na kuryaatkenachitsaha,

Bhadram = pleasant, friendly.   Bhadramiti = bhadram +iti.
Iti = so, thus.   Brooyaadbhadramityeva = brooyaat+ bhadram
+ iti+ eva.     Brooyaat = say, speak.    Eva = thus, really.
Vaa = is, or.    Vadet = speak.     Shushkavaira =groundless
enmity.   Vivaadam = dispute, quarrel.    Cha = and.  Na = not.
Kuryaatkenachitsaha = kuryaat + kenachit + saha.   Kuryaat=
do.   Kenachit = some body.    Saha = with.

i.e.          People should ensure that they always speak with each
other in a friendly way by using polite and pleasing words. If per
chance  they have  to say something  harsh and unpleasant, they
should still ensure that they express their thoughts in  a polite way.

(Now a days it  is very common among the people , particularly the
politicians, to use very harsh and offencive language while speaking
to others, without thinking about the consequences.    And later on
they have to cut a very sorry figure by saying that they did not mean
to say so or even deny their statement.  This Subhashita is an advice
to such persons.)

Today's Subhashita.

Satyam brooyaatpriyam brooyaanna brooyaatsatyamapriyam .
Priyam cha naanrutam brooyaaddesha dharmah sanaatanah..

Satyam = the truth.   Brooyaat = speak.    Priyam = liked ,
pleasantly.         Brooyaanna = brooyaat + na.     Na = not.
Brooyaatsatyamapriyam = brooyaat + satyam + apriyam.
Apriyam = unpleasant. Naanrutam = na + anrutam. Anrutam=
untrue.     Brooyaadesh = brooyaat + esha.         Esha =this..
Dharmah = religion, religious austerity.   Sanatanah =eternal.

i.e.    People should always ensure always  to speak only the
truth and should never speak untrue and unpleasant words.
Wise sages have, therefore, declared this as a part of the eternal
Religion (religious austerity).

(The above 'shloka' is also an often quoted one, but hardly
implemented in daily life,  and the consequences are there for
every one to see.)

Today's Subhashita.

Santosham  paramaaesthaaya sukhaarthee  samyato  bhavet.
Santoshamoolam  hi  sukham  duhkhamoolam viparyayah.

Santosha = contentedness.   Paramaasthaaya = parama +sthaaya.
Paramaa=highest, absolute.   Sthaya=permanent.  Sukharthee=
a person who seeks happiness or pleasure.  Smyato= self control.
Bhavet = should be.   Santoshamoolam = santosh +moolam.
Moolam = the root cause.   Hi = surely.   Sukham = happiness.
Duhkhamoolam =   the root cause of misery and sorrow.
Viparyayah = antonym ( a word having opposite meaning i.e.
dissatisfaction, the opposite of satisfaction.)

i.e.     A person who desires absolute happiness in his life , must
have full control over his desires and remain satisfied over his lot,
because  being contented  is the root cause of happiness , and its
opposite  being  always discontented is the root cause of all woes
and miseries.

(There is no end to the  desires among men. Therefore it is said that if
wishes were horses fools would ride on them,  The desires soon
turn into greed. So it is essential to have a control over desires if
one wants to be happy in his life. Otherwise in spite of having every
thing a person may still feel himself as a poor person. The theme
of the above Subhashita is based on this fact of Life.)
