To day's Subhashit.

राज्ञि धर्मिणि धर्मिष्ठः पापे पापाः समे समाः
लोकास्तमनु वर्तन्ते यथा राजा तथा प्रजा

Raagyi dharmini dharmishthh pape papaah same samaa
lokaastmanu vartante yathaa raja tathaa praja

If the Ruler of a  Country is religious and pious the subjects are also the same.   If he is sinful and wicked they too are sinful and wicked and if the Ruler is just and undiscriminating they are also like minded, thereby implying that the inhabitants of a Country are of the same temperament and attitude as that of their Ruler .

Raagyi = Raja,  King, the Rular of a Country.     Dharmini = religious and pious.
Paap = a sinful act not sanctioned by Religion and Law of the land.
Sama =  similar,  treating others without any discrimination.

('Yathaa Raja tatha Praja' is one of the oft-quoted  'subhashit' in Sanskrit and Hindi languages, implying thereby that people get the Government they deserve.)
