To day's Subhashit.

धिगस्तेतां विद्या धिगपि कवितां धिक्सुजनतां
वयोरूपं  धिकधिक्  धिगपि  च  यशो निर्धनवतः |
असौ जीयादेकः सकल् गुणहीनोSपि धनवान्
वहिर्यस्य  द्वारे  तृणलवनिभः सन्ति गुणिनः   ||

Dhigastetaam vidyaa dhigapi kasvitaam dhiksujanataam.
Vayoroopm dhikdhik dhigapi cha yasho nirdhanvatah.
asou jeeyaadekah sakal gunaheenopi dhanavaan.
vahiryasya dwaare trunalavanibhah saanti guninah.

Dhagastetaam = dhik+astu + etaam.  Dhik = shame.    Astu = be, upon.    Etaam =these.
Vidyaa = learning, knowledge.     Dhigapi = dhik +api.     Api = also.      Kavitaam = poetry.
Dhiksujanataam = Dhik + sujanataa.     Sujanata = benevolence. a group of respectable persons.
Vayoroopam = Vaya + roopam.     Vaya = age.    Roopam = beauty.     Dhikdhik =shame upon.
Dhagipi = also shame upon.      Yasho = fame.     Nirdhanvatah = like a poor person 
Asou = that.      Jeeyaadekah = for remaining alive, for sustenance.     Sakal = all.
Gunaheenopi = Guna +heen +api.       Guna =virtue, talent.     Heena = without.
Dhanvaan = a rich person.  Vahiryasya = Vahih +yasya.     Vahih = outside.   Yasya = whose.
Dwaaare = door steps.   Trunalavanibhah =Truna +lava + inbhah.     Truna lava= blade of grass.
Nibhah = similar to, resembling .      Santi = there are.       Guninah = virtuous and talented persons.

i.e.     Shame upon their knowledge as also poetic skill , benevolence,  beautiful personality and fame
 of those persons , who, like a poor person stand for their livelihood and sustenance at the doorsteps of a rich person devoid of any virtues .  They are similar to blades of ordinary grass to be trodden upon.

(Through this Subhashit the author depicts the plight of learned persons, who have to become subservient
before rich persons, who are simply rich without any liking for art,poetry and other refinements of  a gracious living.  Such rich persons treat the learned persons with contempt  as if they are like blades of brass to be trodden upon.)
