To day's Subhashit.

न विद्यया नैव कुलेन गौरवं
जनानुरागो धनिकेषु सर्वदा   |
कपालिना मौलिधृताSपि जान्हवी
प्रयाति रत्नाकरमेव सत्वरम्   ||

Na vidyayaa naiva kulean gauravam.
janaanuraago dhanikeshu sarvadaa .
kapaalinaa maulidhrutaapi jaanhavee.
prayaati ratnaakarmeva satvaram.

Na = not.    Vidyayaa = through learning.    Naiva = na = iva .    Iva = like,    Kulean = of the family's
Gauravam = respectability.      Janaanuraago = Jana +anuraago.      Jana = persons,
Anuraaga = passion, attachment.      Dhanikeshu =  among rich persons.    Sarvadaa = always.
Kapaalinaa = another name of Lord Shiva, as he holds a kapaal (skull) in one of his hands.
Maulidhrutaapi = mauli +dhrat +api.      Mauli= head.      Dhrata = borne, held.     Api = even.
Jaanhavi = river Ganges (Ganga).      Prayaati = proceeds.     Ratnaakarmeva = Ratnaakara + eva.
Ratnaakar = ocean.         eva = to       Satvarm = immediately, right away.

i.e.          Rich persons have no attachment towards knowledge or respectabulity of other persons and their  only concern is the pursuit of wealth, just like the river Ganges, whom Lord Shiva tries to hold on his forehead , she ,after landing on his forehead immediately proceeds to meet the Ocean.

(In this Subhashit the author has used the legend of "Gangaavataran" i.e. how the sacred river Ganges was brought from Heaven to Earth by King Bhagirath to provide salvation to his ancestors. Lord shiva had agreed to neutralise the force of Ganges while coming down to earth , by holding her on his forehead. Thereafter, on the prayer of  Bhagirath he released her from the curls of his hairs, allowing her to proceed towards the ocean for the salvation of Bhagirath's ancestors."Ratnaakar" , another name of the Ocean also means a store house of  'Ratnas' , as so many precious things were produced by it during the process of "Samudra Manthan" , another legend referred to in an earlier Subhashit posted by me.   In a jovial way, the author has used this episode to underline the tendency among the rich persons always craving for more wealth ,by giving the simile of river Ganges rushing to meet the Ocean (symbolising the riches), although Shiva had pampered her by holdong her on his forehead.)
