Today's Subhashita.

अपि  बन्धुतया  नारी  बहुपुत्रा   गुणैर्युता  |
शोच्या भवति सा नारी पतिहीना तपस्विनी ||   -महासुभषितसंग्रह (2044)

अर्थ -      अनेक बन्धु बान्धवों और पुत्रों वाली  तथा गुणवान स्त्री भी एक
तपस्विनी के समान शोचनीय स्थिति में हो जाती है यदि उसको  किसी कारण
वश अपने पति का साहचर्य प्राप्त नहीं होता है |

Api bandhutayaa naari bahuputraa gunairyutaa.
Shochyaa bhavati saa naari patiheenaa taapasvini.

Api = even.       Bandhu = relatives, friends.       Taya = with her.
Naari = a woman.     Bahuputraa = havig many sons.   Gunairyutaa=
Gunaih +yutaa.      Gunaih = qualities, virtues.     Yutaa = possessing.
Shochyaa = woeful, miserable.     Bhavati = becomes.    Saa = that.
Patiheenaa = pati +heenaa.     Pati = husband.     Heenaa = wanting.
without.     Tapasvini = a poor wretched woman , ascetic.

i.e.       Even if a woman may have friends, relatives and many sons as  also
many virtues, her  life becomes woeful and miserable like an ascetic if she
does not have the company of her husband due to any reason.
