Today's Subhashita.

Arakshitam tishthati daivarakshitam
surakshitam dasivahatam vinashyati.
Jeevatyanaathopi vanepirakshitah
krutaprayatnopi grahe vinashyati.

Arakshitam =  unprotected.    Tishthati = stays, remains.
Dauva = destiny, fate.        Rakshitam = protected.
Surakshitam = protected, safe.    Daivahatam = daiva +
hatam.      Hatam = killed.     Vinashyati = gets destroyed.
Jeevatyanaathopi = Jeevati+anaatho +api.       Jeevati =
remains alive.     Anaatho =  an orphan.    Api = even if.
Vanepirakshitah = vane+api+rakshitah.     Vane = forest.
Rakshitah = protected.       Krutaprayatnopi = kruta +
prayatno +api.     Kruta = doing.    Prayatna = effort.
Gruhe =  home,  residence.

i.e.   Unprotected persons remain protected if the destiny is in
their favour, but if it is against them they get killed in spite of
having elaborate protection.   An orphan remains alive even in a
dense forest, whereas a person dies in his home even after making
special efforts for his protection.

(There is a proverb in Hindi echoing the sentiments of the above
Subhashita , which says that vegetation totally dependent on Lord
Ram thrives  inside a dense forest even totally uncared for.)
