Today's Subhashita.

तुष्यन्ति भोजने विप्राः मयूराः घनगर्जिते |

साधवः परसम्पत्तौ खलाः परविपत्तिषु   || 

भावार्थ -    पुरोहित (पूजा पाठ कराने वाले ब्राह्मण ) छक 

कर भोजन  कराये जाने से संतुष्ट होते है तथा मोर बादलों की 

गर्जना से प्रसन्न होते हैं |  साधु तथा सज्जन व्यक्ति दूसरों की 

संपन्नता को देख कर संतुष्ट होते है जब  कि दुष्ट और नीच 

व्यक्ति दूसरों को विपत्तिग्रस्त देख कर ही प्रसन्न होते हैं |

Tushyanti bhojane vipraah mayuraah ghanagarjite.

Saadhavah parasampattau khalaah paravipattishu.

Tushyanti = are appeased.   Bhojane = meals.    Vipraah =

domestic priests.    Mayooraah = peacocks.   Ghanagarjite =

thunderous roar of clouds.    Sadhavah = noble and virtuous

persons.  Parasampattau =  the wealth of others.   Khalaah =

wicked  persons.  Paravipattishu = misfortune, of others.

i.e.      Priests (brahmins conducting religious rituals) are 

appeased by being offered a sumptuous meal, and peacocks 

at the thunderous roar of clouds. Noble and righteous persons

are happy on seeing the prosperity of other people, whereas  

mean and wicked persons are elated  at the misfortune and
calamity being faced by others.
