आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

दूर्वाSङ्कुरतृणाSSहारा धन्यास्तात  वने  मृगाः  |
विभवोन्मत्तचित्तानां  न पश्यन्ति मुखानि यत् || -शारङ्गधर

भावार्थ -   वन में निवास करने वाले तथा अपने आहार के लिये
दूब घास के तिनको पर निर्भर रहने  वाले ऐ हरिणो !  तुम  बहुत
भाग्यशली हो कि अपने विभव (ऐश्वर्य और शक्ति) के मद में चूर
व्यक्तियों की कुदृष्टि अभी तक तुम्हारे ऊपर  नहीं पडी है |

(यह  सुभाषित भी एक अन्योक्ति है और 'मृगान्योक्ति' के नाम
से संकलित है  | लाक्षणिक तथा  व्यङ्ग्यात्मक रूप से इस का
तात्पर्य यह है कि वनों में पशु पक्षी तभी तक ही सुरक्षित रह सकते
हैं जब तक कि समाज के वैभवशाली व्यक्तियों की कुदृष्टि उन पर
नहीं पडती है | आज सारे विश्व में पर्यावरण का जो नाश हो रहा है
उसमें ऐसे ही संपन्न व्यक्तियों  का हाथ है | )

Doorvaankura-trunaahaaraa  Dhanyaastaata vane Mrugaah.
Vibhavonmatta-chittaanaam  na pashyanti mukhaani yat.

Doorvaankuratrunaahaaraa + doorvaa+ankur + truna+ aahaaraa.
Doorva = bent grass.   Ankura = blade, sprout.   Trunaa =blades.
Aahaaraa = taking food.      Dhanyaastaat = dhanyaah +taata.
Dhanyaah=fortunate, blessed.  Taata = address to several persons.
Vane = forests.   Mrugaah = deers, antelopes.   Vibhavonmatta =
very proud of their power.   Chittaanaam = persons having the
mentality of .  Na =not.   Pashyanti =see,   Mukhaani =in front.
Yat = that.

i.e.    O antelopes !   living in forests and sustaining yourselves by
eating blades of grass, you are fortunate and blessed that you have
not yet been seen by the rich and power-drunk people.

(This Subhashita is also an Anyokti (allegory) as also a satire named
as a 'mrugaanyokti' . The underlying idea behind it is that our Wild-
-life and forests are safe only until such a time the evil eye of these
neo -rich and powerful people does not fall upon these. The fast deterio-
ration in the climatic conditions of the World is only due to the acti-
vities of such people.)
