आज का सुभाषित / Todaay's Subhashita.

नाना  शरीरकष्टैर्धनव्ययैः   साध्यते यदा  पुत्रः  |
उत्पन्नमात्रपुत्रे  जीवितशङ्का  गरीयसी  तत्र    ||
                 -  सुभाषित रत्नाकर (प्रबोध सुधाकर )

भावार्थ -     अपने शरीर को अनेक प्रकार कष्ट दे कर और धन व्यय
करने के बाद लोग संतान उत्पन्न करने में सफलता प्राप्त कर पाते
हैं |  परन्तु संतान उत्पन्न हो जाने पर यह जानना  अति आवश्यक है
कि फिर भी उनके जीवित रहने पर बहुत बडी शङ्का बनी रहती  है |

(प्रस्तुत सुभाषित  "विषयनिन्दान्तर्गतपुत्रनिन्दा" शीर्षक के अन्तर्गत
संकलित है |  इस का तात्पर्य यही है कि मात्र संतान उत्पन्न हो जाने
के बाद भी उनका  उचित लालन पालन अति आवश्यक है ताकि वे जीवित
रहें |)

Naanaa shareera-kashtairdhanavyayeh  saadhyate  yada putrah.
Utpannamaatra putre jeevitshankaa gareeyasi  tatra.

Naanaa = various. many.   Shareera = body.  Kashtaih =troubles,
difficulties     Dhanavyayaih = spnding of money.   Saadhyate=
becomes successful.   Yadaa = whenever.   Putrah =  a child.
Utpanna = by being born.   Maatra = merely.    Jeevita = alive.
Shankaa = uncertainty, doubt.   Gareeyasi =  extremely important.
Tatra = there.

i.e.     People are able to beget children after facing many difficulties
and spending money.  But after their birth it is extremely important
to know that there is always the uncertainty that they will remain alive
afterwards.

(This Subhashita lays emphasis on the fact that children need special
care for their upbringing so that they remain alive and grow properly.)
