आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

दह्यमानाः सुतीक्ष्णेन  नीचाः परयशोSग्निना  |
अशक्तास्तत्पदं  गन्तुं  ततो  निन्दां  प्रकुर्वते   ||
                         - सुभाषित रत्नाकर (कल्प

भावार्थ -   नीच और दुष्ट व्यक्ति अन्य व्यक्तियों के यश रूपी
अग्नि में बुरी तरह झुलस जाते हैं (उन्हें दूसरों की प्रगति देख कर
जलन होती है ) |   यदि उनमें वैसा ही पद या प्रसिद्धि प्राप्त करने
की सामर्थ्य और शक्ति नहीं होती है तो फिर वे उन व्यक्तियों की
निन्दा करने लगते हैं |

Dahyamaaanaah suteekshnena  neechaah parayashogninaa.
Ashaktaaastatpadam gantum tato nindaamn prakurvate.

Dahyamaanaah = in flames.   Suteekshenena = painfully.
Neechaah = lowly and mean persons.  Parayashogninaa=
para + yasho + agninaa.    Para = others.   Yasho =fame.
Agnina =  by the fire of.    Ashaktaastatpadam = ashaktaah +
tat + padam.    Ashaktaah = incapable of .   Tat =  that.
Padam=post.   Gantum= go, reach.   Tato=then.  Nindaam=
defame, abuse.   Prakurvate =  do.

i.e.    Lowly and mean persons  get scorched in the fire of fame
achieved by other virtuous persons (are envious of the progress
of those persons). However, if they are incapable of  achieving
the  same status  or  post, then  they start abusing and defaming
those virtuous persons.
