उत्साहसंपन्नमदीर्घसूत्रं क्रियाविधिज्ञं व्यसनेष्वसक्तम् |
शूरं कृतज्ञं दृढसौहृदं च लक्ष्मीः स्वयं याति निवासहेतोः ||

भावार्थ - जो व्यक्ति उत्साही , शीघ्र कार्य संपन्न करने वाला,
विभिन्न कार्यों तथा उनसे संबन्धित नियमों के ज्ञाता , सभी
प्रकार के व्यसनों से दूर रहने वाले , शूर, कृतज्ञ, तथा मित्रता
को निभाने वाले होते हैं उनके घरों में देवी लक्ष्मी स्वयं निवास
करने के लिये चली आती है | (अर्थात वे धनवान होते है )
(प्रस्तुत सुभाषित भी "लक्ष्मीस्वभाव" शीर्षक के अन्तर्गत संकलित
है | इस में एक धनवान व्यक्ति में क्या गुण अवश्य होने चाहिये
उनका वर्णन किया गया है |)

Shooram krutagyam drudhasauhrudam cha Lakshmih
svyam yaati nivaasahetoh.
Utsaaha = zeal . Sampanna = endowed with, full of.
Adeerghasootram = prompt (not slow) Kriyavidhigyam =
Kriyavidhigyam = a person well versed in various rules ,
regulation and rituals. Vyasaneshu = various vices .
Ashaktam =not addicted to. Shooram =brave. Krutagyam=
Grateful. Drudha =firm. Sauhrudam =friendship.
Cha = and. Svayam = on her own. Yaati = goes.
Nivaas = residence Hetoh = for the purpose of ,
i.e. Those persons who are endowed with zeal, prompt in
their actions, well versed in various rules, regulations and
rituals, free from vices of all kind, brave, grateful, and firm
in maintaining , their friendship with others , Goddess Lakshmi
herself takes initiative to reside in their homes.
(This Subhashita also deals with 'the mentality of Goddess
Lakshmi' . It describes various qualities which a person must
possess to get the favour of Lakshmi.)
