Kanthaadoordhvam viniryaati praanaah yaanchaaksharaih saha.
Dadaameetyaksharairdatuh punah shrotraadvishanti tey.
Kanthaadoordhvam = kanthaat + oordhvam. Kanthaat = from the
throat's. Oordhvam = upper region. Viniryaati = go out.
Praanaah = breath of life. Yaanchaaksharaih = yanchaa + aksharaih.
Yanchaa = begging , mean soliciting. Aksharaih = words, alhabets.
Saha = along with. Dadaameetyaksharairdaatum = dadami + iti +
aksharaih + daatum Dadaami = I will give. Iti = this, that.
Daatum = by giving. Punah = again. Shrotranti =
Shrotraat +vishaanti. Shrotraat = from the ears. Vishaanti =
vi + shanti. Vi = a prefix meaing specially. Shanti = peace of
mind. Tey = they.
i.e. When a person begs or solicits something from another
person, while uttering such words from the upper portion of his throat,
he feels as if his breathe of life will go out. But when he hears the
the affirmative words of the giver from his own ears, he again gets
his peace of mind.
( In this Subhashita the psychological state of mind of a person
soliciting some favour from another person has been highlighted
beautifully.)
