Today's Subhashita.

सतां न तद्यच्छलनानुविद्धम्  ||

Na saa sabhaa yatra na santi vruddhaah.
vruddhaa na tet ye na vadanti dharmam.
dharmo na vai yatra cha naasti satyam.
sataam na tadyacchalanaanuviddham.

Na = not .     Saa = that.     Sabhaa = assembly.    Yatra = where.   Santi = there are.
Vruddhaah = experienced and aged persons.    Tey =  they.     Ye = those.    Vadanti = say.
Dharmam = ethical practices prescribed by a religion.     Vai = an adverb placed after a word for
laying stress on it.      Yatra = where.      cha = and.     Naasti = does not exist.
Satyam = truth.     Sataam =noble and righteous persons.    Tadyatcchalanaanuviddham = tad +yat +chalanaa +anuviddham.    Tad = thus.    Yat = where.    Chalanaa = deceitfulness.
Anuviddham  = full of.

i.e.     An assembly does not deserve to be called an assembly if experienced and aged persons are not participating in it,  and an aged person who does not encourage others to follow ethical practices prescribed by the Religion also does not deserve to be called an aged person.   Similarly a Religion which does not emphasise adherence to truthfulness can not be called a real Religion, and those persons who are full of deceit can not be called noble and righteous persons.
