दोषाSSलोकननिपुणाः परुषगिरो दुर्जनाश्च काकाश्च |
दर्शनमपि भयजननं येषामनिमित्तपिशुनानांम् ||
अर्थ - बिन किसी कारण दूसरों में दोषों को देखने में निपुण ( अंधेरी रात में उल्लू के समान देखने की क्षमता ), कर्कश वाणी , देखते ही भय उत्पन्न करने वाले, ये सभी लक्षण दुर्जन व्यक्तियों और कव्वों में होते हैं |
Doshaalokananipunaah parushgiro durjanaashcha kaakaashcha.
darshanmapi bhayajananam yeshaamanimittapishunaanaam.
Doshaalokananipunaah = doshaah +aalokan +noipunaah. Doshaah = (i) defects (ii) night
Aalokan = looking at. Nipunaah = expert, skilled., proficient. Parushgiro= parush+giro
Parush = harsh, unkindly. Giro = speech. Durjanaashch = wicked persons . Kaakaashch = crows
Darshanamapi = darshanam +api. Darshanam = seeing, appearance Api = even. Bhaya = fear,distress.
Jananam = creating. Yeshaamanimittapishunaanaam = yeshaam +animittapishunaanaam.
Yeshaam = whose. Animitta = without any valid reason. Pishunaanaam = mean and wicked persons.
(Note - Another meaning of "Doshaalokananipunaah" can be a reference to owls, who can easily see even in darkness. Another meaning of Doshaa is night or darkness.)
i.e. Very skilled in finding faults in other persons without any valid reason , speaking harshly and unkindly, causing fear in others even by their appearance , all these are the common traits among the wicked persons and crows.
