Today's Subhashita

आदौ माता गुरोः पत्नी ब्राह्मणी राजपत्निका |

धेनुर्धात्री  तथा  पृथ्वी सप्तेता  मातरः स्मृताः ||

अर्थ -     सर्व प्रथम जन्मदात्री माता तत्पश्चात् गुरु पत्नी,  ब्राह्मण (पुरोहित) की पत्नी , रानी, गाय ,धाय 

(माता की अनुपस्थिति में बालक को पालने वाली स्त्री) तथा यह्  पृथ्वी, ये सातों समाज में माता के समान 

प्रतिष्ठित और सम्मानित होती हैं |  

Aadau = at the beginning, at first.      Maata = mother.     Guroh Patnee = the teacher's wife.  

Brahhmanee =  wife of a priest.      Raajpatnika = King's wife,  queen.    Dhenurdhaatree = dhenu+dhaatree.

Dhenu = a cow.     Dhaatree = nurse, foster mother.     Sapteta = sapta +etaa.     Sapta = seven.

Eta = these.    Matarah = mothers.    Smrutaah = termed as, remembered.

i.e.       First of all one's own mother and thereafter the wife of the Teacher, the wife of  a Brahmin (priest), the Queen,  the Cow, the maid who upbrings a child in the absence of his mother and the Earth we live in. all these seven are termed and respected as a mother in the society.
