Adharmaadarjitam druvyam alpakaalam tu thishthati.
Tatah sapatramayate samoolam tena nashyati.
Adharmaadarjitam = Adharmaat + arjitam. Adharmaat = through unjust and immoral means.
Alpakaalam = for a short period. Tishthati = remains, stays. Tatah = , therefore. then ;
Sapatramayate = after blooming like the leaves of a tree. Samoolam = along with the roots,entirely. Tena = for that reason (acquiring through wrongful means, Nashyati = gets destroyed.
i.e. Wealth acquired through unjust and immoral means remains with a person for a short period of time, and after blooming and flowering like a plant for some time, gets destroyed along with its roots.
(There can be another interpretation of the word 'Samoolam;' i.e. along with the original capital of any enterprise or a person. So , not only the wealth acquired through wrongful means is lost , the original capital is also lost. )
