Today's Subhashita.

अस्थिरं  जीवितं  लोके  यौवनं धनमस्थिरं  |
अस्थिरं  पुत्रदारादि धर्मः कीर्तिर्द्वयं स्थिरं  ||    -महासुभषितसंग्रह   (3888)

अर्थ -     इस संसार में मनुष्य का जीवन, यौवन तथा धन अस्थायी है  और
ऐसे ही पुत्र स्त्री आदि भी अस्थायी होते हैं   धर्माचरण और उसके द्वारा
अर्जित कीर्ति (समाज में प्रसिद्धि और आदर  ) ये दो ही  केवल स्थायी  होते
हैं |

Asthiram jeevitam loke yauvanam dhanamasthiram.
Asthiram putradaaraadi dharmah keertirdvayam sthiram.

Asthiraam = uncertain and not permanent.         Jeevitam = life.
Loke = in this world.      Yauvanam =  youth       Dhanamasthiram =
Dhanam + asthiram.       Dhanam = wealth.      Putradaaraadi =
putra +daaraa+ aadi.      Putra = son.      Daaraa =  wife.   Adi = etc.
Dharmah = Religion, morality.     Keertirdvayam - keertih + dvayam.
Keertih =  fame. reputation.      Dvyam = two.    Sthiram = steadfast,
persevering.

i.e.       In this world  the life span, youth and wealth of every person, as
also his wife, sons etc., are uncertain and not permanent..  Only the name
and fame one gets  due to observance of religious austerity remain
steadfast.
