Today's Subhashita.

असहायोSसमर्थोऽपि वा  तेजस्वी किं करिष्यति |
अतृणे  पतितो  वह्निः स्वयमेवोपशाम्यते        ||   - महासुभषितसंग्रह (3720)

अर्थ -         यदि कोई व्यक्ति मित्र विहीन और असमर्थ भी हो तो  शक्तिशाली
और तेजस्वी व्यक्ति भी उसकी  कुछ भी सहायता  नहीं  कर  सकते हैं , जैसे कि
घास से रहित स्थान पर गिरी हुई (लगायी गयी) आग अपने आप बुझ जाती है |

Asahaayo samarthopi vaa tejasvee kim  karishyati .
Atrune patito vahnih svayamevopashaamyate/

Asahaayo = friendless, without any companions.    Asamarthopi  =
Asamartho +  api.      Asamartho = incapable.     Vaa = as also.
Tejasvee = a powerful and brilliant person.            Kim = what.
Karishyati = can/will do.       Atrune = any surface which is not
covered with inflammable grass.     Patito = fallen over.     Vahnih =
fire.    Svayamevopashaamyate =  svayameva + upashaamyate.
Svayameva =  itself.        Upashaamyate = ceases.

i.e.       If a person is friendless and is also incapable, then even powerful
and brilliant persons can not be of any help to him just like a fire burnt over
a surface not having any grass over it ,ceases itself after some time.
