Today's Subhashita.

असहायस्य कार्याणि सिद्धि नायान्ति कानिचित्  |
तस्मात्समस्तकार्येषु   सहायो   भूपतेर्गतिः  ||            -महासुभषितसंग्रह  -  (3769)

अर्थ -       मित्रों से रहित और अकुशल व्यक्तियों के द्वारा  प्रारम्भ किये  हुए कार्य
 शायद ही सफल  हो पाते  हैं  | अतएव अपने समस्त कार्यों के लिये उसे राजा (शासकों )
की सहायता  या आश्रय की आवश्यकता होती है |

Asahaayasya kaaryaani siddhi naasti kaanichit.
Tasmaatsamastakaaryeshu  sahaayo  bhoopa rgatih .

Asahaayasya = a friendless and incapable person"s      Kaaryaani =  tasks.
Siddhi = result.     Naayaanti = na+ aayanti.     Na = not.     Aayanti = achieved.
Kaanichit =  a little.  Tasmaatsamastakaaryeshu = tasmaat + samasta+kaaryeshu.
Tasmaat = therefore,  hence.    Samast = all.      Kaaryeshu =  tasks.
Sahaayo = helpful.    Bhuopatergatih = Bhoopateh + gatih.    Bhoopateh =King's,
a country's rulers.     Gatih = help,  recourse to, refuse.

i.e.     An incapable and friendless person can hardly be successful in accomplishing
the tasks taken up by him.  Hence, the only recourse left for him is to get the king's
 (or the country's rulers) help or protection..
