आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

ऋणं मित्रान्न कर्तव्यं न् देयं चापि मित्रके |
प्रीतिच्छेदकरी ज्ञेया यस्माद्वै ऋणकर्तरी ||  -महासुभषितसंग्रह

भावार्थ -    अपने मित्रों से  कभी भी ऋण (उधार) नहीं लेना चहिये
तथा न अपने किसी मित्र को देना चाहिये क्यों कि यह सर्वविदित
है कि ऋण लेना और देना इन  दोनों ही परिस्थितियां   मित्रता  के
सूत्र को एक कैंची द्वारा काटे  जाने के समान होती  हैं |

Rinam mitraanna kartavyam na deyam chaapi mitrake.
Preeticchedakaree gyeyaa yasmaadvai Rinakartaree.

Rinam = a debt, a loan.         Mitraanna = mitraam + na.
Mitraam = friends.    Na = not    Kartavyam = to be done.
or incurred.     Deyam = be given,    Chaapi = cha + api.
Cha = and.          Api = even.           Mitrake = to a friend.
Preeticchedakaree = Preetih = chedakaree.   Preetih =
friendship.  Chedakaree = causes to cut or break.  Gyeyaa=
is known to be.                   Yasmaadvai = yasmaat + dvai.
Yasmaat = because.  Dvai = both these two.
Rinakartari = rina = kartari.    Kartari = scissors.

i.e.   One should neither take  a loan from his friends nor give
any loans to them, because it is well known that  both these
situations are like cutting the bonds of friendship with scissors.
