आज का सुभाषित /Today's Subhashita.

कः  कण्टकानां प्रकरोति  तैक्ष्ण्यं  विचित्रभावं मृगपक्षिणां च  |
माधुर्यमिक्षो  कटुता  च  निम्बे  स्वभावतः सर्वमिदं  हि सिद्धं  ||
                                                -महासुभषित सं ग्रह (८२८२)

भावार्थ -    वह  कौन है जो पेड पौधों में उगे कांटों को नुकीला
और चुभने वाला बना देता है और विभिन्न रूपों और प्रकार
के विचित्र पशु पक्षियों की सृष्टि करता है, ईख के पौधे में तो
मिठास उत्पन्न हो जाती है  और  नीम का वृक्ष कडुवेपन  से
भरपूर होता है ?  निश्चय  ही यह सर्वविदित है कि ये विशेषतायें
और विविधतायें इन्हें प्रकृति  द्वारा प्रदत्त हैं और इन सभी के
स्वभाव  का ही एक अंग होती हैं |

Kahh kantakaanaam prakaroti taikshanyam
Vichitrabhaavam mrugapakshinaam cha.
Maadhuryamiksho katutaa cha nimbe .
Svabhaavatah sarvamidam  hi siddham.

Kahh = who ?    Kantakaanaam = various types of thorns,
Prakaroti = makes into.      Taikshanyam =  sharpness.
Vichitra = wonderful, amaing.    Bhaavam = manner.
Mruga = animals in general, antelope.    Pakshinaam =
various types of birds.    Cha = and.   Maadhuryamiksho=
maadhuryam + iksho.    Maadhurya = sweetness.  Iksho=
Sugarcane plant.   Katutaa = bitter taste,   Nimbe = neem
tree.    Svabhaavatah = intrinsically, as part of their nature.
Sarvamidam=   sarvam + idam.       Sarvam = completely.
Idam  = this.    Siddham = proven,  well known.

i.e.     Who makes the thorns in various plants very sharp
and creates wonderful animals and birds of different kinds,
makes the sugarcane plant very sweet and  the Neem tree
very bitter in taste ?   Surely, it is well known that all these
diversities and peculiarities are created by Nature an are an
intrinsic part of their behaviour.
