दूरीकरोति कुमतिं विमलीकरोति
चेतश्चिरन्तनमघं चुलकीकरोति |
भूतेषु किं च करुणां बहुलीकरोति
संगः सतां किमु न मङ्गलमातनोति - शार्ङ्गधर

भावार्थ - सज्जन और विद्वान व्यक्तियों की संगति से
लोगों के मन की बुरी भावनायें दूर हो कर उनकी बुद्धि निर्मल
हो जाती है तथा जो पाप कर्म उन्होंने पहले किये हुए होते है उन
का दुष्प्रभाव भी नष्ट हो जाता है | प्राणिमात्र के प्रति उनके मन
में करुणा (दया) की भावना में भी वृद्धि हो जाती है | भला क्यों
न संतों के साहचर्य से संपन्नता और कल्याण की वृद्धि होगी ?
Dooreekaroti kumatim vimaleekaroti.
Chetashchirantanamagham chulikeekaroti.
Bhooteshu kim cha karunaam bahuleekaroti.
Sangah sataam kimu na mangalmaatanoti.
Dooreekaroti = removes. Kumatim = evil thoughts.
Vimaleekaroti = purifies. Chetashchirantanamagham =
chetah + chirantanm + agham. Chetah = mind.
Chirantan = old. Agham = sins. Chulakeekaroti =
causes to disappear. Bhooteshu = creatures, Kim=
why , Cha = and. karunaam = compassion, empathy.
Bahuleekaroti = increases. Sangah = association with.
Sataam = noble and righteous persons. Kimu = why ?
cha = and. Mangaalam = prosperity, auspiciousness.
Aatanoti = expands.
i.e. Association with noble and righteous persons results
in removal of evil thoughts in the minds of people and
makes their minds pure. The ill- effect of the sins committed
by them also disappears, and the feelings of compassion
and empathy towards all the living beings also increases.
Then why not the prosperity and auspiciousness will also
increase in the company of noble persons ?
