अदाता पुरुषस्त्यागी धनं संत्यज्य गच्छति |
दातारं कृपणं मन्ये मृतोSप्यर्थं न मुञ्चति ||
अर्थ - जो व्यक्ति अपने धन को जनहित के कार्यों के लिये दान नहीं करता है वह् अन्ततः अपनी सारी अर्जित संपत्ति को पीछे छोड कर इस दुनिया से चला जाता है | मरते दम तक अपनी संपत्ति को नहीं छोडने वाले ऐसे व्यक्ति को समाज में कृपण (कंजूस ) कहते हैं |
Adaataa purushastyaagee dhanam samtyajya gacchati.
Daataaram krupanam manye mrutopyartham na munchati.
Adaataa = a person who does not share his wealth as charity. Purushastyaagi = purushah +tyaagee.
Purushah = a person. Tyaagee = sacrificing. Dhanam = wealth. Santyajya = to be left.
Gacchati = goes (dies). Daataram = a giver. Krupanam = a miser. Manye = think.
Mrutopyartham = Mruto +api+artham . Mruto = dead. Api = even. Artham = wealth.
Na = not. Munchati = relinquishes, releases.
i.e. A person who does not use his wealth in charity for the benefit of society ultimately dies after leaving behind all his wealth. Such a person who does not spend his wealth until his death is considered as a miser
in the society.
