Today's Subhashita.

अहो  बत  विचित्राणि  चरितानि  महात्मनां |
लक्ष्मीं तृणाय मन्यन्ते  तद्भारेण नमन्ति च ||

अर्थ -      अहो !   महान् और सज्जन व्यक्तियों का स्वभाव और आचारण  भी कितने विचित्र होते हैं |
 वे धन सम्पत्ति  को एक तिनके के समान तुच्छ समझते हैं परन्तु यदि वे धनवान हो भी  जाते हैं  तो उसको    भार स्वरूप ही  समझते हैं  और विनम्र ही  बने  रहते हैं |

Aho bat vichitraani charitaani mahaatmanaam.
Lakshmim trunaaya manyante tadbhaarena namanti cha,

Aho =  Oh !     Bat =  an expression of surprise     Vichitraani =   strange, curious.     Charitaani =behaviour, deeds.     Mahaatmnaam = noble and righteous persons.     Lakshmi = wealth, riches.    Trunaay = like a blade of grasss.     Manyante = consider as, think.     Tadbhaare = Tat + bhaare.      Tad =  its,thither.
Bhaarena =  due to the burden of.     Namanti = bend,  become humble.    Cha  = and..

i.e.        Oh !  how strange is the nature and behaviour of noble and righteous persons ?   They consider the wealth insignificant like a blade of grass and if they are endowed with wealth. they treat it as a  mere burden and still remain  polite  and  noble.
