आत्मार्थं जीवलोकेSस्मिन्को  न जीवति मानवः  |
परं  परोपकारार्थं  यो  जीवति  स  जीवति            ||

अर्थ -      इस संसार में  अपने हित साधन के लिये तो सभी व्यक्ति जीवित रहना चाहते हैं ,  परन्तु जिन  व्यक्तियों  के जीवन का मुख्य ध्येय  बिना किसी भेदभाव के तथा निःस्वार्थ  तन मन धन से जनसेवा होता  है वे ही सच्चा जीवन  जीते हैं |

 (इसी सुभाषित पर आधारित एक फिल्मी गीत के बोल है - 'अपने लिये जिये तो क्या जिये , तू  जी ए दिल ज़माने के लिये " )

Aatmaartham jeevalokesminko na jeevati Mahavah ;
Param paropakaarthan yo jeevati sa jeevati.

Aatmartham = for the sake of  one's self.    Jeevalokesminko = jeevaloke + asmin+ ko.
Jeevaloke = this world.     Asmin = this.     Ko = who.    Na = not.     Jeevati =  lives.
Maanava =  human being.      Param = but.     Paropakaaraartham = paropakaar +artham
Paropakaar =  charity, helping  others.    Arthm = desire.     Yo = whosoevver.
Jeevati = lives.     Sa = he.

i.e.       In this world every one wants to remain alive for the sake of his own interest, but those persons who devote their life in helping others and charity,  live a meaningful and real life.
