Today's Subhashita.

अज्ञो  न   वितरत्यर्थान्पुनर्दारिद्र्यशङ्कया  |

प्राज्ञोSपि  वितरत्यर्थान्पुनर्दारिद्र्यशङ्कया || 

अर्थ =अज्ञानी व्यक्ति अपनी संपत्ति को  इस आशङ्का के कारण वितरित  नहीं करते है (समाज कल्याण के कार्यों में नहीं लगाते हैं ) कि ऐसा करने से वे कहीं पुनः दरिद्र न हो जायें परन्तु बुद्धिमान् व्यक्ति  इसी आशङ्का के  कारण ही  अपनी संपत्ति वितरित करते रहते हैं | (क्यों कि वे जानते हैं कि धन संपत्ति स्थायी रूप से किसी के पास नहीं रहती है  और उसका सर्वोत्तम उपयोग जनकल्याण के कार्य द्वारा  ही होता है )

Praagyopi vitaratyarthaanpunardaaridryashankayaa.

Agyo = unwise  persons.    Na = not.     Vitaratyarthaanpunardaaridryashankayaa = vitarati +

arthaan +punah + daaridrya + shankayaa.      Vitarati = distributes (gives as charity

Punah = again.       Daaridrya = poverty.     Shankayaa = apprehension, doubt. 

Praagyopi = Praagyo + api .      Praagyo =   wise persons.     Api = also , even.

\i.e.      Unwise persons do not distribute their wealth (as charity for social service) apprehending that by doing so they may again become poor.  However wise persons distribute their wealth for this very reason (because they know that wealth never remains permanently with any body and the wealth is put to best use in philanthropic work.)
