अटनेन महारण्ये सुपन्था जायते शनैः |
वेदाभ्यासान्तथा ज्ञानं शनैः पर्वतलङ्घनं ||
अर्थ - एक घने जंगल में विचरण करते समय सदैव सही पथ पर धीरे धीरे चलना चाहिये | इसी प्रकार वेदाभ्यास , ज्ञानार्जन (शिक्षा प्राप्त करना) तथा दुर्गंम पर्वतों को लांघना. ये सभी कार्य भी धीरे धीरे ही करना
श्रेयस्कर होता है |
Atanena mahaaranye supanthaa jaayate shanaih.
Vedaabhyaasaantatghaa gyaanam shanaih parvatalanghanam.
Atanena = while wandering. Mahaaranye = a dense forest. Supantha = a good track.
Jaayate = happens. Shanaih = leisurely Vedaabhyaasaantathaa - vedaabhyaasaam + tathaa.
Vedaabhyaasa = learning and repeating the sacred text of Vedas, the scriptures of Hindus.
Gyaanam = various disciplines of learning. Parvat = mountain. Langhanam = crossing.
i.e. While trekking in a dense forest we should follow a proper trail and move slowly. Similarly, learning and reciting the Vedas, and acquiring knowledge of various disciplines of learning, and crossing/climbing a mountain, it is advisable that all these tasks should also be performed gradually and with patience..
