Today's Subhashita.

अनर्घ्यमपि   माणिक्यं   हेमाश्रयमपेक्षते |
अनाश्रया न शोभन्ते पण्डिता:वनिता लताः ||

अर्थ -     जैसे अमूल्य होने पर भी एक माणिक्य को अपनी वास्तविक शोभा को प्राप्त करने के  स्वर्ण के आश्रय की आवश्यकता होती है , उसी तरह्  विद्वान व्यक्ति, स्त्रियां  तथा लतायें  भी बिना किसी प्रकार के आश्रय के शोभित नहीं होती हैं.|

( एक माणिक्य तभी शोभित होता है जब् वह् किसी स्वर्ण आभूषण  में प्रयुक्त होता है | इसी प्रकार विद्वानों को  राज्याश्राय ,स्त्रियों को शक्तिशाली व्यक्तियों के संरक्षण  तथा  लताओं  को अपनी वृद्धि के लिये किसी वृक्ष या  सहारे की आवश्यकता होती  है | )

Anarghyamapi maanikyam hemaashrayamapekshate.
Anaashrayaa na shobhante panditaa vanita lataah .

Anarghyamapi = anarghyam +api.      Anarghyam = priceless, invaluable.    Api = even.
Maanikyam =  ruby (a precious stone).     Hemaashrayamapekshate = Hema +aashrayam + apekshate.
Hema = gold.     Aashrayam = shelter.      Apekshate =  requires, expects.    Anaashrayaa = without any protection and support.     Na = not.     Shobhante =  embellished, adorned       Panditaah = scholars ,learned persons..       Vanitaa = women.       Lataah = a creeper plant .

i.e.        Inspite of being priceless a ruby requires the shelter and support of  gold , and similarly scholars , women and creeper plants too are not adorned or embellished without any proper support..

( A ruby acquires its full glory only after being studded in a gold ornament, and similarly scholars are adorned after they get recognition from the State or society,  women through protection by  powerful persons, and a creeper plant when it climbs  a tree or any other support.)
