Today's Subhashita.

अत्यासन्न: विनाशाय दूरस्था  न  फलप्रदाः |
सेव्या  मध्यमभावेन राजवह्निर्गुरुः स्त्रियः ||

अर्थ -      राजा, आग , गुरु तथा  स्त्रियों से  अत्यन्त घनिष्ठता विनाशकारी होती है और इनसे दूरी बनाये रखना भी फलप्रद (फ़ायदेमन्द ) नहीं होता है | अतः इनकी  सेवा  तथा इनसे संपर्क मध्यम  भाव से करनी  चाहिये |

Atyaasannah vinaashaaya dooraasthaa na phalapradaah .
Sevyaa madhyamabhaavena raajvahinirguruh striyah.

Atyaasannah = ati + aasannah.     Ati = too much.     Aasannah = proximity, closeness.
Vinaashaya =  destruction.     Doorasthaa = staying far away, remain aloof.    Na = not.
Phalapradaah = fruitful,  profitable.     Sevyaa = to be served or obeyed.      Madhyambhaavena =
madhyam + bhaavena.           Madhyam = moderately, neither too much nor too little.
Bhaavena = manner.    Raajavahinirguruh = raaj +vahinih + guruh.    Raaj = ,King,  Rulers.
Vahini = fire.      Guruh = a teacher.       Striyah = women.

i.e.       Too close proximity or closeness with a King,  fire, a teacher and womenfolk always results in destruction and remaining aloof from them is also not profitable or fruitful. It is, therefore, always advisable to serve or deal with them  moderately..
