Eka eva suhruddharmo nidhanepyanuyaati yahh.
Shareerena samam naasham sarvamanyad-hi gacchati.
Eka one. Eva = really, only. Suhruddharmo = Suhruda +
Dharmo. Suhruda = friend, well wisher. Dharmo =religious
austerity. Nidhane+ api +anuyaati. Nidhane = death, Api =
even. Anuyaati = follows. Yah =who. Shareerena = body's
Samam = alike, similarly. Naasam = destruction Sarvam +
anyat+hi. Sarvam = every thing. Anyat = another , besides.
Hi = surely. Gacchati = goes.
i.e. After the death of a person his body perishes and likewise
all his possessions are also left behind. But the religious austerity
observed by him during his lifetime follows him (as "Punya") like
a friend even after his death in his afterlife.
(According to Hindu Religion if a person observes religious austerity
during his life time, he earns certain 'plus points' which help him in
his afterlife like a friend and in his next birth cycle he is born in an
illustrious family and enjoys all comforts. This Subhashita has dealt
with this aspect of Life.)
