आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhahita.

एकोSपि  यत्र  नगरे  प्रसिद्धः  स्याद्धनुर्धरः  |
ततो  यान्त्यरयो  दूरं  मृगाः सिंहगृहादिव   ||  -महासुभषितसंग्रह

भावार्थ -    यदि किसी नगर में कोई प्रसिद्ध धनुषधारी ( शिकारी)
हो तो उस नगर के आस पास के स्थानों  (वनों ) से अपने आवास
को छोड कर  मृग तथा सिंह आदि  जानवर बहुत  दूर पलायन कर
जाते हैं |
 (जंगली जानवरों के अवैध शिकार की समस्या जो आज कल बहुत
अधिक हो गयी है वह्  पूर्वकाल में भी रही होगी ऐसा इस सुभाषित
से प्रतीत होता है | )

Ekopi yatra nagare prasiddhah syaaddhanurdharah.
Tato yaantyarayo dooram mrugaah simhagruhaadiva.

Ekopi = eko + api.     Eko = one.    Api = even.   Yatra =
where .       Nagare = a city.        Prasiddhah = famous
Dhanurdharah = an archer.         Tato = therefore.
yaantyarayo = yaanti + arayo.     Yaanti = go.    Arayo=
swiftly, speedily.    Dooram = far away.      Mrugaah =
Deers, animals.    Simhagrahaadiva.   Simha + gruhaat +
iva.     Simha = lion.     Gruhaat =  abodes.       Iva = so.

i.e.          Even if there may be  only one famous archer
(a hunter) in a city, the wild animals,deer, and lions abandon
their abodes in the nearby forest and speedily migrate to far
off forests.

(The problem of poaching wild animals in forests has become
endemic now a days.  But by seeing this Subhashita it appears
that the problem existed in the past as well.
