आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

एकोदर  समुद्भूता   एकनक्षत्र  जातकाः |
न भवन्ति समाः शीले यथा बदरकण्टकाः || - महासुभषितसंग्रह

भावार्थ -   एक ही माता के गर्भ से उत्पन्न हुए तथा एक ही नक्षत्र
में जन्म लिये हुए मनुष्यों के स्वभाव और गुणों में समानता उसी
प्रकार नहीं होती है जिस प्रकार बेर के वृक्ष के  कांटों में एकरूपता
नहीं होती है |
(ज्योतिष में पृथिवी के चारों ओर आकाश मण्डल को १२ राशियों में
बांटा गया है और उनकी पहचान २७ नक्षत्रों (तारा समूहों ) के द्वारा की
जाती है |नक्षत्र विशेष के अनुसार किसी मनुष्य की राशि निर्धारित
होती है और उसी के अनुसार मनुष्य के स्वभाव आदि का निर्धारण किया
जाता है | इस सुभाषित का तात्पर्य यह्  है कि फिर भी मनुष्य का स्वभाव
और भाग्य उसके पूर्वजन्म के सत्कर्मों या दुष्कर्मों  के अनुसार ही  होता है |)

Ekodara samudbhootaa ekanakshatra jaatakaah.
Na bhavanti samaah sheele yathaa badarakantakaah.

Ekodar = eka + udar.     Eka = one (same)    Udar = womb.
Samudbhootaa = born.    Keanakshatra = eka+nakshatra.
Nakshatra = a constellation of stars.     Jaatakaah =  born.
Na = mpt.    Bhavanti = become.    Samaah = equal, same.
Sheele = character, virtues.     Yathaa = for instance.
Badarakantakaah = badar = kantakaah .    Badar = berry tree.
Kantakaah = thorns.

i.e.      Persons born from the womb of the same mother and
with the same constellation of stars at the time of their birth,
do not possess the same virtues and character , just like the
thorns of a berry tree , which are different from each other in
their shape and size.

(In Astrology the sky is divided into 12 moon signs which are
identified by 27 constellation of stars called 'Nakshatras'.,
according to which the moon sign of a newborn is decided.
This Subhashita says that in spite of the mother and the time
of birth being the same, the temperament and virtues of the
newborns are still different depending upon their 'karma' in their
previous birth )
