आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

एवमेव   क्रियायुक्ता    सर्वसौभाग्यदायनी  |
यस्येषा चा भवेद्भार्या देवेन्द्रोSसौ न मानुषः || =महासुभषितसंग्रह(८१०७)

भावार्थ -    जिस व्यक्ति की पत्नी कर्मठ (कार्यकुशल), भाग्यवान
तथा सुख -समृद्धि देने वाली हो , ऐसा व्यक्ति एक मनुष्य न हो कर
देवताओं  के राजा इन्द्र के समान है |

(इस सुभाषित द्वारा समाज में और विशेषतः एक परिवार में महिलाओं
के महत्त्व को एक अतिशयोक्ति के माध्यम से प्रतिपादित किया गया
है और एक सुखी और समृद्ध  परिवार के मुखिया की तुलना  देवराज इन्द्र
से की गयी है |)

Evameva kriyaayuktaa sarvasaubhaagyadaayanee.
Yasyeshaa chaa bhavedbhaaryaa devendrosau na maanushah.

Evameva = similarly.   Kriyaayuktaa = active.   Sarva =  all
Saubhaagya = good fortune, prosperity.   Daayanee = giver of.
Yasyeshaa = Yasya +eshaa.   Yasya= whose .   Eshaa = this.
Bhavedbhaaryaa = Bhavet + bhaaryaa.    Bhavet = happens.
Bhaaryaa = wife.                Devendrosau = Devendro + asau.
Devendro = Indra, the King of Gods.   Na = not.   Maanushah=
human being.

i.e.        A person whose wife is very industrious (active) and
fortunate, and also brings prosperity to the family, such a person
is not an ordinary human being but an incarnation of Indra, the
King of Gods.

(Through the use of a hyperbole the author of this Subhashita has
underlined the role of women in society and particularly in  a
happy and prosperous  family by equating the head of the family
with Indra, the king of Gods.)
