आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

पर्जन्य  इव  भूतानामाधारः पृथिवीपतिः  |
विकलेSपि  हि पर्जन्ये जीव्यते न तु भूपतौ ||
                                    -सुभाषित रत्नाकर

भावार्थ -    जल बरसाने वाले बादलों के समान ही एक  राजा
या शासक इस पृथिवी  में समस्त प्राणिमात्र के जीवित रहने
का आधार है |   यदि बादल ही रीते (जल रहित )  हो जायें तो
निश्चय ही  इस पृथिवी में  न तो प्राणी बचेंगे  और न राजा ही 
बचेगा |

(प्रस्तुत सुभाषित में मानव जीवन के लिये जल का इस पृथिवी
में होना तथा अच्छी शासन व्यवस्था की अनिवार्यता को व्यक्त
किया गया  है |   कहा भी गया है कि जल ही जीवन है और समस्त
पृथिवी में जल वितरण बादलों के माध्यम  से ही होता है |  )

Parjanya  iva bhootaanaamaadhaarah pruthiveepatih.
Vikalepi hi parjanye  jeevyate na tu bhoopatau.

Parjanya = a rain bearing cloud.   Bhotaanaam = all
living beings.   Aadhaar = supporter.  Pruthiveepatih =
a king or a ruler of a country.   Vikale = exhausted,
crippled. unwell.   Api = even.   Hi = surely   Jeevyate=
remain alive.   Na = not.    Tu = and, but.    Bhoopatau=
a king or a ruler.

i.e.     Like the rain bearing clouds a King (or a ruler) is
also essential as a supporter of all livings on this Earth.
If the clouds do not  distribute the rain on the Earth, then
definitely neither the  living beings  or the King will exist
on this Earth.

(The importance of  Water as also good governance has
been emphasised in the above Subhashita.)
