आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

सर्वौषधीनाममृता  प्रधाना
            सर्वेषु सौख्येष्वशनं  प्रधानम्  |
सर्वेन्द्रियाणां नयनं  प्रधानम्
             सर्वेषु गात्रेषु  शिरः  प्रधानम् ||  - चाणक्य नीति

भावार्थ -   सभी  औषधियों  में  प्रधान  आसवन पद्धति से
निर्मित विभिन्न आसव तथा अरिष्ट होते हैं तथा सुख और
स्वास्थ्य प्रदान करने  में भोजन करना  ही प्रधान होता है | 
सभी ज्ञानेन्द्रियों  और कर्मेन्द्रियों  में नेत्र ही प्रधान होते  हैं 
तथा शरीर के सभी अंगों में शिर ही प्रधान होता है |

(आयुर्वेद में आसव और अरिष्ट वर्ग की औषधियां  जैसे  कि
द्राक्षासव, पञ्चारिष्ट आदि,  आसवन पद्धति (मदिरा बनाने की
पद्धति ) से निर्मित  होती हैं और उन्हें  अन्य औषधियों की तुलना
में  श्रेष्ठ  माना जाता है |  )

Sarvoshadthheenaamamrutaa  pradhaanaa.
Sarveshu  saukhyeshvashanam pradhaanam.
Sarvendriyaanaam nayanam pradhaanam.
Sarveshu gaateshu shirah pradhanam.

Sarva + aushadheenaam + amrutaa.    Sarva = all.
Aushadheenaam = medicines.   Amrutaa =spirituous
liquor.   Pradhaana = prominent.    Sarveshu =among
all.     Saukhyeshu =comforts. health.     Ashanam = .
eating food .   Sarvendriyaanaam = among all organs
of sense and action .  Nayanam = eyes.  Gaatreshu =
limbs of the body   Shirah = head.

i.e.   Medicines prepared by distillation process are most
prominent among all medicines in Ayurveda, and among
the things for providing health and comfort,  food is most
prominent. Among all the organs of sense and action , the
eyes are prominent and among the limbs of the body the
head is most prominent.

(In the Indian system of medicine called Ayurveda, medicines
prepared by distillation method play a prominent role. They
are classified as Aasava and Arishta and contain some amount
of alcohol in them . )
