the guise of  praise, about the craving among people to acquire more and
more gold,which even creates rift between a father and his son.)

Today's Subhshita.

and sooner  or later breaks it and throws it, and so is the case of the knowledge
acquired  by a wicked person.)

as a superior person ?

Today's Subhashita.

Yathaa = for instance,  like a (comparison).

i.e.        A king or a ruler of a country may not be very learned,
but if he remains associated with highly educated persons and is
devoted to them, he gets all the  glory and prosperity through such
association just like a tree grown besides a water body gets all
the nourishment and grows nicely.

( The truth behind this Subhashita can be judged by the example of
the Mugal King Akbar, who was not  learned but had in  his Court
highly educated and learned Ministers, whom he respected and
honoured. Through this association his reign is termed as best and
he was called  as 'Akbar the Great' .)

charitable  deeds by rich persons, and ideal moral conduct destroys distress
and misfortune.

A household without any son (a child) is also cheerless like a void, but
poverty renders a person devoid of every thing in his life.

to people.     Sevakah = a person who has nurtured the Kimshuka
tree in the hope of getting a harvest of fruits.

i.e.    If a person rushes through a task without knowing what will be
the end result of his efforts, surely he has to suffer just like a person
who nurtures a 'flame of the forest' tree in the hope of getting a harvest
of fruits (and ultimately gets frustrated, as the tree does not produce
any fruits like other fruit bearing trees).

after abducting Devi Sita, the wife of Lord Rama (and was ultimately
killed  by Lord Rama).
